Disney Live Entertainment Costuming Industrial Designers are instrumental in the development of character product for use at all Disney Experience sites around the globe. The Industrial Designer collaborates with various partners to craft cost-effective manufacturing layouts for new and redeveloped products. With a focus on efficiency and ergonomics, this role is pivotal to the success of the costume development lifecycle. This role will report to the Manager-Costume Design and Development.

This is a temporary role with no guarantee of permanent placement.

You Will:

  • Provide daily leadership, coaching, and mentoring to a team of direct & indirect reports, including ensuring the team receives accurate training and understands their role and how to perform it.

  • Review and prepare workflow, resource needs and action plans while ensuring efficiency, quality, and customer service standards are met

  • Ensure costume standards are being met as we develop new or update existing products

  • Look for areas of opportunity to improve efficiency for the organization and strive for consistent processes within the department.

  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and implementing standards and procedures and aligning with Company guidelines

  • Establish an open and encouraging working relationship with co-workers and support staff across the organization, and across partnering teams

  • Maintains knowledge of best practices in manufacturing methods, and trends and developments in technology and equipment; applies this knowledge to maintain the organizations competitive edge

  • Identifies and assesses various problems and departures from established manufacturing standards and best practices; researches and recommends solutions

  • Develops and maintains management information, planning, and control systems

  • Implements methods and modifications to reduce production costs

You Will Have:

  • 3+ years experience in industrial design with a focus on product development

  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution experience

  • Experience working in a fast paced environment with competing tasks

  • Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction

  • Experience collaborating and working through compromise that result in win/win agreements and outcomes

  • Experience communicating (verbal and written) with partners at all levels

  • Experience facilitating work sessions to drive commitments and accountability

  • Experience delivering projects timely and on-budget while communicating with executive leadership, sponsors and clients

  • Experience working in a business environment where cost benefit and return on investment analysis are key decision factors

  • Valid drivers' license

  • Ability to work with various synthetic fibers and furs

  • Flexible hours including weekends, nights, and holidays are required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project management skills

Required Education:

  • Advanced degree in Industrial Design or related fields is required
