The Area Mechanic - HVAC Refrigeration Tech is more than just a modern day Iceman of cooling off a building. They troubleshoot, perform maintenance and/or operational procedures in all phases of plumbing, HVAC, kitchen equipment, refrigeration work including, air cooled and water cooled chillers. Among many tasks, the Area Mechanic - HVAC Refrigeration Tech must be able to repair or replace valves, bearings, belts and sheave replacement, blower and shaft replacement, insulation and damper repairs, motor repair or replacement, pump rebuilding and maintenance of boilers and air compressors. The field service position may include work from elevated platforms and confined spaces throughout the Walt Disney World Parks and Resort property.

The pay rate for this role in Florida is $27.35 per hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to troubleshoot, calibrate and adjust pilots, thermostats and burners, transformers, controls, relays, heaters, elements, switches and controls on electrical systems
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance of HVAC, Chillers, Boilers, Steam Generation, Blowers, Hot Water Heaters, etc.
  • Respond to trouble tickets within areas of WDW Parks and Resorts
  • Ability to use the tools of the trade (e.g. multimeter, refrigerant gauges, charging charts, hand tools etc.)
  • Cast members may be required to handle cleaning chemicals and supplies
  • Additional Personal Protective Equipment (face shields, goggles, refillable hand sanitizers, etc.) may be required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in refrigeration
  • Universal EPA Certification (Type I, II, and III)
  • Familiar with energy management systems and HVAC controls
  • Ability to read blue prints and schematics
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in standard office software programs and mobile electronic devices
