About the Role & Team

Disney’s Direct to Consumer team oversees the Hulu and Disney+ streaming businesses within Disney Entertainment helping to bring The Walt Disney Company’s best-in-class storytelling to fans and families everywhere. The Disney+ Global Content Programming and Subscriber Engagement team is responsible for leading content planning, scheduling, on-service merchandising, slate management, and programming insights that contribute to a cohesive strategic content approach for the service.

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Manager of Content Programming and being part of the Disney+ Global Content Programming team, the Content Programming Manager is tasked with operationalizing merchandising strategies and workflow across services to improve audience engagement and discovery.

  • Own day-to-day editorial operations for areas within the Disney+ service, including creating and updating pages, content calendars, QC updates, and other deliverables as needed.
  • Curate, build, publish, and manage Disney+ content programming in the CMS and other tools with accuracy and efficiency to maximize audience engagement and retention.
  • Facilitate verbal and written communications between teams, and to the larger organization.
  • Pull data analytics to gain and share merchandising insights around audience, title, platform, and other elements of Disney+
  • Improve process efficiency and develop scalable solutions to drive operational improvement.
  • Identify audience programming gaps and audience segment opportunities.
  • Create impactful, curated programming events that leverage The Walt Disney Company's brands and franchises.
  • Partner with operational teams to ensure content and asset availability supports merchandising strategies.
  • Partner with product on testing new features in CMS to improve guest experience.
  • Collaborate on regional and territorial editorial merchandising and promotion.
  • Leverage service, market, and behavior data, as well as audience research to drive effective programming strategies.
  • Collaborate with Programming Optimization for testing requirements and implementation.
  • Collaborate with Programming Data & Insights teams for actionable insights and execution.
  • Sustain existing projects or leading projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in digital media, programming strategy or operations.
  • Strong understanding of digital media platforms, including hands-on management of web, app, streaming, and connected devices.
  • Experience with curating and publishing content on a consumer-facing CMS.
  • Strategic, creative, and entrepreneurial mentality.
  • Outstanding organizational, prioritization, and time management skills; ability to complete multiple, high-priority projects, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Must be open to thinking outside of traditional models.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to optimally collaborate with senior management, staff, and employees outside of the Direct-to-Consumer Organization.
  • Enhanced data literacy.
  • Able to balance multiple projects at different stages of development.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a matrixed organization while maintaining self-motivation.
  • Demonstrated ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Passion and understanding of The Walt Disney Company segments, brands, and franchises, including the defining elements, with the ability to improve audience engagement.
  • Experience with data visualization, experimentation, and project management software is a plus.
  • Experience with one or more of the following tools: Looker, WeaponX or Optimizely, and Airtable.
  • Prior experience in streaming is a plus.
  • International experience is a plus.
  • Being multilingual is a plus.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree

The hiring range for this position in CA is $84,500.00 to $113,300.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
