The Maintenance Technician Level is responsible for providing support in general maintenance, preventive maintenance, and the upkeep of the entire Distribution Center. Responsibilities include supporting the operations team, maintaining all production equipment and MHE equipment through preventive maintenance schedules.

This position is located in our Camp Hill, Pennsylvania Distribution Center.

Must have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Operate hand and/or portable power tools at a proficient level.
  • Operate and maintain the multi-shifter.
  • Maintain, test and service industrial batteries.
  • Complete assigned mechanical, electrical and plumbing assignments.
  • Perf orm preventive maintenance to assigned equipment.
  • Conduct thorough daily preventive maintenance inspections.
  • Opera te lift trucks, maintenance equipment (scissor lift and genie boom lift) grounds equipment and company vehicles.
  • Accurately complete departmental paperwork.
  • Operate Computer Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Analyze and repair basic equipment/system malfunctions.
  • Troubleshoot and repair basic Electro-mechanical problems (i.e. belt tracking, sensors, chain alignment and tension, replace/repair gear boxes/motors, electrical overloads, blown fuses, etc.).
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment.
  • Set-up and repair shelving/racking and other types of material handling storage structures.
  • Must be able to certify and operate all equipment as required.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and pay close attention to detail.
  • Comply with all safety regulations of the Distribution Center, use required Personal Protective Equipment (i.e. safety glasses respirators, and fall protection), p ractice all safety programs (i.e. lockout/tagout proper lifting).Must adhere to all policies and procedures of the Distribution Center.
  • Maintain a clean work area. Maintain clean tools and work area.
  • Work with co-workers in a professional, respectful, cooperative and courteous manner.
  • Regular and punctual attendance and a bility to work overtime as required.
  • Demonstrate positive, customer service and team-oriented demeanor.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:

This position requires a basic understanding of all technical areas and an intermediate / overall understanding in at least two (2) technical areas (specified below). This includes general troubleshooting, as well as routine repairs. This position also requires the ability to read, understand and complete plan modifications and schematics.

Technical Areas: Electrical, Controls, Mechanical, Carpentry, Pneumatics and Welding

ORAL/WRITTEN COMMUNICATION:

The Maintenance Technician must be able to communicate effectively when dealing with other associates, supervisors, operations managers and staff. This includes the use of nonverbal communication including eye contact, body language, posture and all aspects of written forms of communication.

PHYSICAL FITNESS:

The Maintenance Technician must have physical strength and be able to perform the physical tasks of the position. Pursuant to OSHA code: 29CFR 1910.66 I (f), and Harness manufacturer guidelines, all technicians must be physically fit to utilize fall protection equipment.

  • High level of manual dexterity.
  • Ability to operate a wide variety of motorized vehicles.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two year’s maintenance/mechanical/repair experience or vocational diploma in related area(s).
  • A working understanding of P.L.C’s. and PC Controls with minimal assistance.
  • Must have knowledge of basic welding, electrical procedures and related safety guidelines.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience with automation control or conveyor equipment or equivalent training.
  • Must posses a complete set of mechanic’s tools (per list supplied by Foot Locker Maintenance Department).

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence in English.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
