You will be the first local legal counsel supporting our business in the APAC-region. This region is currently comprised of Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macau, Korea and Japan. You will be part of the EMEA Legal Team of Foot Locker and will report into the VP Legal who is situated in Europe. This Legal Team consists of 6 persons in total. You will work on a wide range of legal, strategic and business matters in the APAC region. The Legal Counsel must be comfortable with understanding how various Legal systems work, be able to drill down to the core of the matter with preciseness, exercise sound judgment, and be able to make quick decisions based thereon.

In addition to the “normal legal job,” it is expected that you will work on and (pro-actively) lead International projects and collaborate with partners on possible investment opportunities.

The Legal Counsel must possess business and financial acumen in order to provide strategic (legal) business solutions, assure the implementation of these solutions and drive the business forward.

You will work closely with our business partners from various backgrounds and nationalities, therefore it is important that you are eager to learn, be humble and understand the business drivers.

Responsibilities

The role entails legal support for the entire business, with focus on the following areas:

  1. Compliance (Privacy, Corporate Compliance Models, Competition Law and Code of Business Conduct)
  2. Omni Channel
  3. Employment and Labour matters
  4. International Contracting & Commercial Advice
  5. Litigation
  6. Real Estate matters
  7. New Business

Qualifications

  • A University degree in law and approximately five to eight years of relevant experience in a law firm or in the business environment
  • Fluent in English and another language of the region is preferable, both written and oral
  • Experience in and understanding of a vast cross-border portfolio of several countries
  • Familiarity with local laws in the region preferred
  • Strong ability to work effectively with diverse, multicultural teams
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • The ability to be part of a leadership team in a growing region
  • Good judgement and a high level of integrity
  • Able to present complex matters not only in a very detailed and fact-based manner, but also be able to present this in a very easy to understand manner
