Foot Locker, Inc. is seeking an experienced Data Architect, an innovative individual with a proven track record of building enterprise level platform components to support product development from multiple teams and lines of business. You must be inspired by technology and have both passion and expertise in creating innovative technical solutions and architectures. You will serve as an expert in technology, demonstrate strong leadership and champion Foot Locker Inc. values. This role is expected to drive innovation through collaboration across our data science teams and business to help push Foot Locker, Inc. to the next level. The team is embarking on a journey of building a new data lake platform using cloud native concepts and the latest tech stacks. Some ideal technologies for this individual would be Spark, Scala/Python, Kafka, and Azure or AWS.

Responsibilities

  • Design, document and build reusable components, frameworks and libraries at scale to support analytics products
  • Design, document and implement product features in collaboration with business and Technology partners
  • Build new data sets, and products helping support Foot Locker business initiatives.
  • Support our Data Scientists by helping enhance their modeling jobs to be more scalable when modeling across the entire data set
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation around our processes / decision making
  • Help grow our data catalog through cleaning, preparing, optimizing and normalizing data ingestions of a variety of third-party data sources, both internal and external
  • Collaborate on the continuous evolution of our schema, common data model and meta-datawhile additional data sources are identified for ingest
  • Participate in a collaborative environment with peer reviews and contributing to new ideas via cross-team guilds / specialty groups
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation around technical designs, processes and decisions
  • Ensure design, development, quality and security standards are adhered to on all projects

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Minimum 5 years experience with public cloud knowledge with a focus on Cloud / Big Data Technologies, CI/CD, Containers, Cost Optimization, Real Time Streaming technologies
  • Minimum 5 years experience designing / implementing Big Data Systems using technologies such as Spark, Scoop, Hive, Oozie, Kafka, Hue, and Zeppelin
  • Must be able to contribute to self-organizing teams with minimal supervision working within the Agile / Scrum project methodology
  • Technical Leadership / Mentoring experience to less experienced engineers
  • Strong understanding of retail data management systems
  • Experience in various data integration/ETL tools, application integration, business process and data science tools (Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Flume)
  • Strong conceptual, logical and physical architecture design experience.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with great interpersonal dispositions and communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of various DMBS systems including NoSQL architectures and design principles.
  • Public cloud experience, preferably Azure, AWS, or Google preferred.
  • Experience using CI / CD tools and project build automation - Git, Jenkins, Maven, PyPi, etc. a plus
  • Previous experience at a fortune 500 company, preferred
  • Experience with enabling Data Science and Self-Service product development with clean, reliable data sets.
