Collins Aerospace is searching for a Project Engineer to lead our Integrated Product Development Team efforts on the International Space Station. The successful candidate will take direction from senior Integrated Development Team leaders and Program Chief Engineer for the International Space Station Program. The International Space Station program is comprised of environmental and thermal control equipment including but not limited to water processor assembly, oxygen generator assembly, thermal control and air revitalization.

The successful candidate will drive the execution of all engineering responsibilities on the program while meeting both internal and external customer expectations. This position on our team can be structured for a remote work option for the successful candidate.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating setting team meeting agendas, leading team meetings and driving action item closures

  • Team activity scope control, including status and corrective action plans to budget challenges

  • Coordination of engineering change activities

  • Coordination and driving failure investigation activities

  • Driving issue resolution closures due to assembly, test and procurement challenges

  • Direct communication with customers will be required - including daily tag-ups, weekly meetings, and quarterly meetings

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations

  • This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), technical experience, and the ability to work as cross-functional team member

  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize both daily issues and strategize longer term projects

  • Superior interpersonal and influencing skills, including coaching and mentoring of other engineering staff

  • Strong computer skills, MS Office, Windchill

  • Natural presence/comfortable presenting to internal and external customers

  • Ability to bring team members together and work problems to resolution

  • A desire to lead with the purpose of improving IPD Team performance.

  • Ability and desire to become and perform export classifications for the program

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MA/MS in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Chemical Engineer or MBA degree is preferred

  • Prior experience in related Engineering discipline(s).

  • Experience with environmental control hardware (e.g. thermal and humidity control, air revitalization, water reclamation etc.)
