Summary

The Pharmacy Tech acts under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and provides assistance in dispensing functions, including: purchasing, inventory control of all drug classes, sterile product preparation and associated equipment maintenance, and automated dispensing cabinet equipment and inventory maintenance. Also performs technical duties to maintain pharmaceutical dispensing functions to all neonate, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including inpatients and outpatients.

  • Fill and label medications.
  • Stock medications into pharmacy inventory.
  • Restock automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs).
  • Maintain adequate medication stock levels and proper storage of medications.
  • Deliver medications to patient care areas.
  • Attend to medication requests and phone calls.
  • Assist in Pharmacy quality assurance activities.
  • Comply with state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission standards and Tenet and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Assist pharmacists in performing various duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required: High School Graduate or equivalent

Experience

Required: Must be 18 years of age

Preferred: Hospital Experience

Certifications

Required: Registered Pharmacy Technician license/certification, as required by state law.
Preferred: Accredited training in sterile products preparation and IV Admixture Certification
