AerialFlight Surgeon - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
·The Aerial Flight Surgeon shall provideoutpatient health care to qualifying beneficiaries as scheduled by theGovernment.
·Care shall include but not be limited tocontinuing, comprehensive health maintenance.
·Willmaintain a program of comprehensive health for the family unit, to includepreventive medicine, behavioral sciences, and community health.
·Maybecome the primary care manager for a panel of patients. As a PCM, will be the primaryperson responsible for the management of the health and wellness of his/herassigned patients. Duties include:
oExamination of patients, formulationdifferential diagnostic plans, defines and orders required diagnostic testing.
oInterpretation of examination findings and testresults, and implementation of treatment plans.
oDetermines need for consultation and assists inmedical care and treatment provided at the direction of other specialists.
oApproving/disapproving subspecialty referrals.
oAnswering patient telephone consults with theassistance of clinic staff.
oProviding primary and secondary preventivemaintenance care.
oAll inpatients will be admitted as per thelocal MTF instructions.
oBe capable of adequately diagnosing and treatinga wide range of pediatric and adult acute and chronic diseases and injuriesincluding but not limited to the conditions of the: Skin Pulmonary System, HeadGastrointestinal System, Eyes Musculoskeletal System, Ears GenitourinarySystem, Nose Reproductive System, Throat Lymphatic System, Neck Central NervousSystem, Cardiovascular System Endocrine System, Psychiatric and BehavioralHealth.
·Havesufficient experience to be able to adequately perform a range of medical procedures.
·Preparerecords and reports as required in support of services rendered in accordancewith established procedures.
Aerial Flight Surgeon - REQUIREMENTS
·Education: Possesses a Doctor ofMedicine degree or a Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an approved school ofmedicine or osteopathy.
·Experience: Successful completion of an accredited Family Medicine Residency. Musthave a minimum of 35 hours of direct patient care in the past year. Must have aminimum of 3 years’ experience in the last 10 years having served as a privilegeflight surgeon at a US Military installation.
·Licensure:Current, unrestricted medical license from any state.
·Board certification: Current board certification in AerospaceMedicine is highly recommended. If not board-certified in Aerospace Medicine,then must show proof of completion of any medical residency program and musthave a minimum of 3 years of U.S. military Flight Surgeon experience.
·Life Support Certification: Possess current BLS, PALS & ALCScertifications.
·Security: Mustpossess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
