We are a dynamic fast-paced team supporting Disney Studios productions, and we are hiring for a Senior Manager, Human Resources & Crew Experience to join our team in Burbank, CA!

The Senior Manager, Human Resources & Crew Experience is responsible for contributing to and leading HR support for film productions. This role will collaborate with business leaders, production leaders, HR partners, and other functions including Talent Acquisition and Employee Relations with a dedicated focus on the production crew experience. The Senior Manager, Human Resources & Crew Experience reports directly to the Vice President, HR & Crew Experience.

What You Will Do

  • Serve as a trusted advisor, mentor and consultant to senior production leaders, business leaders and crew members on Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm, 20th Century Studio and Searchlight live-action productions.
  • Continuously create and maintain an intimate understanding of the production business while building effective and productive working relationships with stakeholders and clients, at all levels of the organization
  • Mentor and coach production leaders and business leaders on HR policies and processes
  • Embrace and integrate inclusion and diversity into business and production strategies, nurturing an environment that is open-minded and that embodies the Disney values
  • Proactively assess production performance to recommend and drive action through a consultative, “influence without authority” approach
  • Identify and analyze trends related to recurring issues and develop strategies to help resolve the issues.
  • Facilitate conversations and training sessions to develop the next generation of production leaders.
  • Responsible for promoting and enabling a fair and inclusive work environment that safeguards the company’s employment brand by ensuring that employee and company interests are handled in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Provide support and mentorship for productions in the US, Canada, and other locations throughout the world with a concentration on the pacific region.

Early Career/ Production Interns:

  • Identify, and recruit talent to meet the needs of the business and build a diverse workforce focusing on early career/ production intern processes and programs.
  • In partnership with local production HR teams, creatively develop, refine, and execute on a program for production interns. This includes identification of community partners, collaboration with production leaders and program management.
  • Demonstrate ability to attract, influence and hire diverse talent by understanding production specific requirements.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 6 years of demonstrable experience as a Human Resources Manager / Business Partner
  • Experience working in a creative and fluid working environment.
  • Experience of dealing with Unions/ Guilds would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of a production environment is beneficial
  • Creative and strategic problem-solving skills
  • High degree of initiative, independent judgment, and discretion
  • Ability to execute against multiple high priority projects through exceptional organizational, prioritization, stakeholder management, and time management skills.
  • Proven verbal and consultative skills and the ability to work with senior leaders in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong ability to influence and respond to questions from various groups of key stakeholders, including executives, employee relations and legal teams.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information in a manner that encourages confidence and trust
  • Demonstrable experience working with senior executives in an “influence-without authority” role working as a trusted advisor
  • Proven ability to effectively resolve conflict
  • Able to work independently

  • Desire to continue development of production industry knowledge
  • Flexibility with schedule to connect with teams in various time zones

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or related work experience

Additional Information

Weekly visits are required to Los Angeles based production locations including, but not limited to, Manhattan beach, CA and Burbank, CA. Additionally, the position will require travel to distant production locations on as needed bases.


The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $163,200.00 - 199,400.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
