General Description
Charged with running various virtualization technologies, focusing on automation across the service lifecycle. Drives and builds automation of infrastructure and applications. Responsible for setting overall architectural direction of cloud infrastructure.
Works directly with Infrastructure and Application teams to bring awareness and thought leadership around continuous delivery, continuous integration and Infrastructure technologies.
Works on Infrastructure initiatives, architecting technology solutions to meet the business needs of Ascena shared services group. In parallel analyzing and monitoring daily operations of the Infrastructure, identifying and remediating risks and issues.
DutieS
- Automates and Orchestrates infrastructure builds, deployments and maintenance associated
- Works with developers and other teams to configure, integrate and automate infrastructure, enhancing the automation pipeline
- Builds services, service dashboards and self-service deployments
- Writes maintainable and extensible code to build and manage infrastructure
- Applies enterprise standards and IT governance standards to infrastructure
- Executes configuration management, technical vendor management, problem mitigation, change management, and critical situation management to Infrastructure and applications.
- Performs configuration/capacity planning, systems performance analysis and optimizations for infrastructure
- Plans and conducts product evaluations; develops and recommends technical strategies and solutions to management. Conducts assessments of risk, cost, and return on investment scenarios and impact as well as potential compatibility issues with existing Infrastructure stack.
Work Experience and education requirements -New
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and or 5-7 years’ experience in IT Infrastructure
- In-depth knowledge of VMware automation and orchestration toolsets ( vRealize Suite - vRA, vRO, vROPS and vRB)
- Must understand interrelationships between systems, applications, various functional teams and their build processes
- Experience working with configuration management tools such as puppet, chef and upguard
- Experience with programming/scripting languages such as powershell, bash, java, perl
- Working knowledge of application development tools such as Jenkins, Git, JIRA and Bamboo
- Working knowledge of container technologies such as Docker, Vagrant, Bluedata and Shippable
- Experience working with various operating systems including Windows and Linux
- Knowledge of application packaging solutions such as RPM, MSI, dpkg, or NuGet/Chocolatey
- Managed vSphere environments over 70 hosts and 2000 guests, across multiple datacenters
- Experience with network and storage virtualization technologies a plus.
- Experience using capacity planning and resource management software
- Large scale project experience
- Proof of concept evaluations
- Self-motivated with excellent time management and organization
skills
- Master in interpreting business needs and design efficient and scalable solutions to meet those needs
- Ability to take on complex, escalated questions or problems and troubleshoot to resolution
- Ability to be on call 24x7 and have a flexible work schedule
