Job Summary:

Disney Entertainment Television Marketing (DET) is seeking an experienced VFX Engineer, who will work closely with FX Network’s award-winning Marketing team. This team utilizes industry standard software tools to generate and complete marketing material in a fast turn digital marketing environment. The Engineer must have excellent communication skills and be able to consult, train, knowledge share, interact, and develop relationships with management, engineers, graphic artists, and creative directors.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct department efforts to coordinate ideas and changes that improve service and optimize infrastructure.
  • Architect, implement, and enhance the ShotGrid project management environment in the production pipeline using Python.
  • Partner with VFX management and artists to ensure engineering support expectations are achieved.
  • Understanding VFX Pipelines and contribute to their development.
  • Assist operators in resolving technical or operational issues.
  • Compose clear documentation for tools and scripts. Sustain proper documentation of systems and procedures.
  • Research and implement innovative technologies that optimize the creative vision of the FX Marketing Team.
  • Mentor and train other team members.

Requirements:

  • Engineering level knowledge of standard CG and compositing applications Unreal, Maya, Houdini, Flame, Nuke, Adobe Creative Suite.
  • A minimum of 5 years Linux, Mac OS and Windows system administration experience including networking and scripting.
  • Object-orientated programming & scripting languages such as C#, C++, Python or MEL are preferred.
  • Experience using version control applications such as Perforce or Git is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of storage and networking, NFS, NAS storage cluster, StorNext file system.
  • 3D rendering workflows including Redshift or other GPU renderers, render farm, and AWS Thinkbox Deadline.
  • Experience with remote working solutions including Leostream, HP Anyware/Teradici.
  • Experience with enterprise management software - JAMF, Altiris, or similar.
  • Four-year college degree or equivalent work experience preferred.

Candidates who seek employment with DET must be available to work any shift in a 24/7 facility.


This position is covered under the Company’s collective bargaining agreement with NABET-CWA.


The pay rate for this role in California is $24.518 to $55.18 per hour. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
